Introduction INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW: An explanation of the rationale for Dispensing/Vaccination Centers (DVCs) in mass prophylaxis campaigns and a description of this computer model
1. User Inputs 1. GENERAL USER INPUTS: Enter data that provide the basis for calculating staff calculations for community-wide prophylaxis
2. General Staff Outputs 2. CAMPAIGN STAFFING AND PATIENT FLOW OUTPUTS: Estimates the number of staff and DVCs required to accomplish prophylaxis campaign
3. Station Specific Staffing 3. STATION SPECIFIC STAFFING: Estimates the number of staff needed at each station in the chosen DVC design (See 8, below)
4. Support Staff 4. SUPPORT/ANCILLIARY STAFF INPUTS: Enter data here to determine the number of DVC support staff (e.g., security)
5. Summary of Staff 5. SUMMARY OUTPUT: Summarizes the recommended core AND support staff per DVC and for the entire prophylaxis campaign
6. Staff Limits Calculation 6. CAMPAIGN CHARACTERISTICS BASED ON STAFF LIMITS: Re-calculates the time needed to complete and/or total population that can be prophylaxed based on estimated staff available
7. Summary of Scenarios 7. SUMMARY OF PRESET SCENARIOS: Lists the processing time and population estimates used for nine modeled scenarios
8. DVC Flow Diagrams 8. FLOW DIAGRAMS: DVC patient flow plans for non-contagious (e.g., anthrax) and contagious (e.g., smallpox) agents
9. DVC Physical Layout 9. DISPENSING CENTER LAYOUT: Sample layout of the model smallpox DVC on footprint of high-school basketball court
10. Technical Appendix 10. TECHNICAL APPENDIX: Describes the operations research concepts and mathematical assumptions underlying this model
